Job Summary

The successful candidate will teach courses in the Automotive Department.

The instructor is responsible for assisting with creating and distributing a course syllabus, teaching all scheduled classes, responding to and evaluating students.

The Automotive Technology (AUT) Instructors’ responsibilities include:

• Deliver effective classroom lecture and laboratory instruction.
• Integrate academic and vocational curricula so that students can obtain a variety of skills, using methods and/or materials appropriate to the subject matter.
• Prepare and grade all class assignments and examinations, within the college guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and timely student records, as required.
• Ensure appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics are maintained.

Required Qualification

a. Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education or Industrial Technology, including thirty-five (35) semester hours in Automotive Technology, OR Five (5) years industrial experience as an Automotive Technician or automotive instructor, ending within three (3) years of application to the teaching position, AND
b. Current certification by the ASE in the area being taught plus A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems and G1 Auto Maintenance and Light Repair.

Desired Qualifications

ASE Master Certified desired. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an automotive technician. Some teaching experience.

Special Instructions Summary

This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates. As teaching needs arise, applications will be reviewed for possible interviews. The number of adjunct faculty hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Adjunct faculty hires and assignments are coordinated by the department chairs.
