Job Summary

The New Student Orientation Student Ambassador position at the College of Lake County is among the most prestigious and highly visible student leadership roles. As a New Student Orientation Student Ambassador, not only do you welcome new students to the College by providing tours, teaching them how to register for classes, and helping with their transition to the CLC community, you also provide an essential key to their success by offering insight and encouragement throughout their first year.

Student Ambassadors are actively involved not only with programming and events related to New Student Orientation and the Succeed at CLC Program, but also are an integral component of CLC’s community and high school outreach through Enrollment Services and Academic Advising. Our staff assists these departments, and others, throughout the year for a variety of events, and only the most trusted, responsible, well-spoken, and optimistic students are hired for this position.

Required Qualification

Must be a CLC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits for fall
Strong communication and public speaking skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to take initiative and act in a mature and professional manner.
Must be available to work a minimum of 5 hours a week; must be available to work over the winter break and during the summer.
Desired qualifications: 2.5 or higher GPA, completion of at least one semester at CLC, participation in at least one CLC student club/organization or CLC athletic team.

Total Hours per week varies, generally 4-20 per week
Work Schedule

NSOs – 7:30am to 12:30pm, 11:30am to 4:30pm, and 2:30pm-7:30pm
Study Zones – 8:45am to 11:00am, 11:00amto 1:00pm, and 1:00pm to 3:15pm
Workshops – 2hr shifts that run between 9:00am-7:30pm
