Job Summary

Under the administrative supervision of the Chief of Police and the functional supervision of the Police Sergeant, the Telecommunicator provides all communication functions, information, and reporting support for the Police Department and the College.

Required Qualification

1. A high school diploma or equivalent
2. Ability to multitask under high stress situations
3. Experience working with the public or customer service
4. Familiarity with Computer (Word/Excel)
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to deal with problematic situations
7. Access to dependable transpiration 24/7
8. Access to a telephone 24/7
9. Valid driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications

1. Previous experience in Emergency (Police/Fire/EMS) Dispatching
2. Previous experience utilizing a Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS)
3. Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems (LEADS)/National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) certification(s) or previous certification in another state’s equivalent system
4. Familiarity with radio communications/dispatch procedures.
